After move from longtime Kingston location, Owners put finishing touches on new Cottman of Wilkes-Barre center

Neal Kapral and Bill O’Hara recently ordered some new living room furniture and a flat screen TV. They are about to get a new coffee maker. The furnishings, though, aren’t for their houses. Instead, they are getting ready for customers who come to their newly-relocated Cottman Transmission and Total Auto Care center, which just opened at 118 Stevens Road in Wilkes-Barre.

“I want people to feel comfortable and at home when they come to see us,” Kapral said. “They’re trusting their cars to us, which is a big responsibility, so we want them to feel good about the entire experience.”

Kapral, who has been in the automotive repair business for 30 years, has co-owned the area’s Cottman center for 11 of those years. Neal and Bob bought the franchise in Kingston, where Neal had worked as an installer since 1987. When the lease in Kingston expired, they found a location in nearby Wilkes-Barre, in a warehouse building that they remodeled to include two service bays, storage, office space and, as the finishing touch, the customer service and lounge area.

“I grew up in the ’60s,” Kapral recalled, “when the norm was a solid work ethic that focused on integrity, hard work and giving customers what they pay for. Those are the moral values I’ve tried to have behind all of our work over the years, and customers have come to appreciate what we do. It’s a good feeling.”
