Check Engine Light
Auto Care Tips
If you drive today’s cars long enough, eventually you’ll see it the dreaded “check engine” light.
First… relax. It’s not like an oil pressure or temperature light. You don’t need to pull over or shut the engine off. But you will need to get it checked soon. The “check engine” light means the car’s computer has identified a problem that’s causing excessive emission levels. That can indicate a serious computer or fuel system problem or just a momentary glitch in the system.
It could even be something as simple as a loose gas cap. Sometimes driving over rough roads can set a false code.
The technicians at your local Cottman center have the tools and the training to evaluate your car’s computer system and identify why the “check engine” light is on.
They can handle the repairs necessary and reset your car’s computer system for you.
