Oil Pressure Light On When Stopping – Should I worry?

Oil Pressure Light - Cottman Man - Cottman Transmission And Total Auto CAre

The first thing you should do is pull over, shut the engine off, and check the engine oil level. That flickering oil pressure light could mean that your engine is extremely low on oil.

If so, add oil to bring it up to the full mark on the dipstick. Don’t worry if you can’t find the exact brand or weight you usually use: Just get it filled back up before driving any farther.

Engine Oil Replacement

Once you have the crankcase filled, you can take your car into your local Cottman center. They’ll check for leaks, and they can change your engine oil and replace it with the exact brand and weight you wanted.

If the light’s flickering and the oil’s full, you could be looking at a faulty warning light system or an oil pressure leak in the engine. Once again, your local Cottman center will be happy to check the system and let you know what it’ll take to get your car back in safe driving condition.
