LEADING NASCAR DRIVER JEFF BURTON TO CONTINUE AS COTTMAN TRANSMISSION SPOKESPERSON IN 2003
Thursday, October 31, 2002
In 2002, Mr. Burton served as the focus of Cottman’s 40th Anniversary Sweepstakes, in which winners received all-expenses paid trips to the Phoenix 500, gift certificates to the Richard Petty Driving Experience, and Jeff Burton racing apparel.
Jeff Burton’s status as a leading NASCAR driver lends Cottman Transmission a credibility and national stature that can only be attained via the use of a spokesman whose fan appeal and driving credentials are as strong as Jeff’s,” states Mr. Leff. “We are really excited to be associated with Jeff Burton and the fine team behind the #99 Winston Cup Car.”
The new campaign is scheduled to launch January, 2003, and will feature Burton appearing in television commercials, radio commercials, newspaper and direct mail ads carrying the theme “Cottman Transmission – Your Personal Pit Crew.”
Additionally, during the spring of 2003, Cottman Transmission plans to feature Jeff Burton as the centerpiece of a child safety campaign, with details to be announced shortly after the first of the year.
Cottman Transmission Systems was founded in 1962 and is headquartered in Ft. Washington, PA. In 1999, Sentinel Capital Partners, a private equity investment firm located in New York, along with senior management, purchased the Company. There are currently more than 340 Cottman Transmission Centers operating in 40 states and Canada. Cottman Transmission had system-wide sales in excess of $145 million in fiscal year 2002. Cottman Transmission opened 30 new stores during fiscal year 2002. For more information about Cottman Transmission Systems, call 1-866-COTTMAN or visit www.cottman.com.
